Yoga Classes with Alexis Stewart
Alexis has been teaching yoga to a broad section of the Sydney community for the last 20 years. Alexis began practicing yoga as a form of exercise; at the time she felt quite stressed and believed, as many people do, that yoga was a good way to deal with the tension that she was feeling. After many years of practicing yoga in this way, Alexis realised that the underlying causes of her stress were never actually being addressed and therefore the yoga, in the way that she was practicing it, was actually more harmful than it was helpful because it temporarily covered up the tension, which lead Alexis to believe that she was addressing it when in truth all she was doing was burying it deeper into her body.
It was around this time that Alexis also came to feel the significant damage that she had done to her body by exercising in such a strenuous way. It was from this point on that Alexis very slowly began to really explore what yoga truly is. Over many, many years Alexis has come to understand from her body that yoga is simply the re-connection back to who we are, using our bodies as the means through which to re-connect.
‘’We live in a world that seems to bombard us with distractions, people commonly feel ‘under the pump’ a lot of the time. Not only does this way of living put a huge stress on the body but it is actually not the way that life was intended to be lived. What I have come to experience through the practice of yoga is that we do have a choice as to how we live our lives and that by re-connecting back to our bodies we are able to make choices based on how we feel rather than what we think. It is by shifting where we make our choices from, that we are able to transform every facet of our lives.”

Yoga taught from truth is for every-body. Alexis has taught yoga to people in wheelchairs and to people with terminal illness, as well as to those who are very physically fit.
Classes can be taught 1:1 or to groups, they can also be ongoing or simply be a single stand alone session. |
